Privacy Policy
Last updated October 27, 2026
zot is an app for households: the people who live together and a shared AI assistant, also called zot. This policy explains what information zot handles, why, and the choices you have. It applies to the zot iPhone app and the services behind it.
What we collect
- Account information. When you sign in, we receive your name, email address and profile picture from the sign-in provider you choose.
- Household information. Which household you belong to, who else is in it, and invite links you create.
- What you share with zot. Messages in your own chat and the household group chat, photos and files you attach, notes and checklists, calendar events, reminders and schedules, and facts zot remembers about your household, such as preferences, birthdays or a policy number you asked it to keep.
- Tasks zot runs for you. When zot does something on the web for you, we keep a record of the task: what was asked, the pages it visited, the steps it took, any files it made, and what it found.
- Saved logins. If you save a website login for zot to use, it is stored encrypted for your household and typed into the site by zot’s browser. The AI model never sees the password.
- zot’s email. Each household gets a zot email address. We store email sent to that address, such as verification emails from services zot signs up for, and email zot sends after you approve it.
- Device information. A push notification token so we can notify you, and your phone’s time zone so reminders happen at the right local time.
How we use it
- To run zot: answer messages, keep your notes, calendar and reminders, and carry out the tasks you ask for.
- To share information within your household. Notes, checklists, the calendar and what zot remembers are visible to everyone in your household. The group chat is visible to all members. Your own chat with zot is visible to you, and zot may use what you tell it there when it helps anyone in the household.
- To send notifications you’d expect, like replies, reminders and requests for approval.
- To keep the service working, secure and within cost limits, and to fix problems.
We do not sell your information, and we do not use it for advertising.
AI models and service providers
zot relies on a small number of providers to work. They process your information only to provide their service to us.
- AI model providers. To reply and carry out tasks, the relevant messages, attachments, notes, calendar entries and remembered facts are sent to AI model providers, through Cloudflare’s AI Gateway, to generate a response.
- Web search. When zot looks something up, the search query is sent to a search provider.
- Hosting and storage. Cloudflare hosts zot’s servers and stores your household’s data, attachments and email.
- zot’s computer and browser. Each household has its own virtual computer, hosted by Fly.io, where zot runs a web browser and keeps files it makes for you.
- Sign-in. Auth0 handles sign-in.
- Notifications. Expo and Apple deliver push notifications.
When zot acts for you
When you ask zot to do something on a website, it visits that site with its own browser and may enter information you’ve given it, such as a delivery address or a saved login. Those sites receive that information and handle it under their own privacy policies. zot asks your household to approve before it buys, books, submits or sends anything, and each approval covers one action.
Keeping and deleting your information
We keep your household’s information while your household uses zot. You can edit or delete notes, calendar events, reminders and remembered facts in the app at any time. To delete your account or your household’s data, contact us through the App Store listing’s support link and we will delete it, except where we must keep something to meet a legal obligation.
Security
Information is encrypted in transit. Saved logins are encrypted at rest. Each household’s data is kept separate, and only members of a household can see its chats, notes and files. No system is perfectly secure, so please don’t share anything with zot you couldn’t afford to have exposed, such as full card numbers or government ID numbers.
Children
zot is not meant for children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect information from them. Household members may mention their children to zot, for example to add a school event to the calendar.
Changes
If we change this policy, we’ll update the date above, and for significant changes we’ll let you know in the app.
